To keep track of the use of biochar in Northeast soils is a daunting task made simple by the internet. An online database is being created that anyone can log into and register their own field trial to test biochar in soil.
Our principal concern is biochar used in farm soils, especially soil growing food. But any use of biochar in soil is useful to study this material in carbon sequestration and soil regeneration.
Until we create an online form to register field trials, we are resorting to emailing a simple standard form.
Dr. Johannes Lehmann at Cornell University is especially concerned about proceeding slowly, carefully and methodically to test and monitor the effects of biochar on our Northeast soils.
