Currently, few businesses have developed and deployed biomass-to-energy technologies and systems. Almost none have developed markets for their by-product as a soil amendment. Very few have been in this business for ten years. Some focused on gasification and pyrolysis to convert waste into power, or combined heat and power (CHP). A few research facilities have studied, tested and refined biomass technologies and established a valuable public knowledge pool and database. Several new companies are preparing to enter the market, and will announce new systems in the next two years.
